The Culinary Supervisor leads daily kitchen operations in a long-term care environment, delivering high-quality food service while supporting a resident-centered (person-directed) approach. This role ensures residents’ preferences are reflected in meal service and fosters a positive dining experience.
- Certificate in Culinary Arts (or equivalent)
- 1-2 years leadership experience in a healthcare/long-term care preferred
- Red Seal certification is an asset
- Ability to lead teams and build positive relationships
- Adaptable, organized, and committed to quality care
- Excellent communication and effective problem-solving skills
- Detail-orientated and self-motivated
- Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as required.
- Overtime may be required outside normal hours of work to accomplish duties during periods of heavy work requirements.
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position (i.e., unload heavy items/equipment/supplies, work from ladders, push/pull large and heavy containers, etc.)
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
Operations & Leadership
- Supervise daily kitchen operations and staff
- Schedule, train, and support team members
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and Manitoba Health standards
Food Service & Quality
- Oversee meal preparation, service, and menu execution
- Maintain food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards
- Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control
Resident Experience
- Incorporate resident preferences into menus and service
- Engage with residents to enhance dining experience
Administration & Safety
- Maintain records, reports, and schedules
- Help with Menu development
- Help staff with dietary concerns
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Report incidents and support continuous improvement
- Standing, lifting, and repetitive tasks required
- Exposure to heat, equipment, and cleaning chemicals
- Other duties as assigned
