Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our team. This entry-level position offers hands-on training and development opportunities in heavy equipment maintenance and repair. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in mechanical systems, industrial equipment, and automotive repair, with a desire to grow into a skilled mechanic. This role provides valuable experience working with various machinery, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm equipment, within a dynamic industrial environment.
Duties
- Assist senior mechanics in diagnosing and repairing heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm equipment
- Learn to perform routine maintenance tasks on industrial and automotive equipment
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to carry out repairs and assembly work
- Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals to understand machinery systems
- Conduct inspections to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns
- Support the operation of heavy equipment during maintenance or troubleshooting procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency
- Participate in training sessions to develop skills in electrical systems, HVAC components, and welding techniques
Requirements
- Strong interest in mechanical systems, heavy machinery, and industrial equipment repair
- Prior dealership or mechanic experience is a plus but not required
- Familiarity with excavator, crane, forklift, or farm machinery is advantageous
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and power tools preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Experience with welding or HVAC systems is beneficial but not mandatory
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Willingness to learn new skills through hands-on training and mentorship
