As part of the interdisciplinary team with the outpatient Eating Disorders Program (EDP) the Registered Dietitian (RD) is responsible to provide detailed analysis of patient nutritional needs and recommendations, as well as patient and family support related to eating and feeding. The RD works in partnership with the EDP interdisciplinary team to follow the Ontario Quality Standards for Eating Disorders and evidence based practice for people with an eating disorder and their families.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition from an accredited University
- Must have successfully completed an accredited Dietetic Internship Program
- Member in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
- Minimum two (2) years recent clinical nutrition experience with eating disorders population in a health care setting
- Experience in community program development
- Experience running and leading groups
- Demonstrated knowledge of eating disorders across all ages and psychological factors
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of techniques of program design and delivery
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer programs – Microsoft Word, Power Point, Internet, Meditech required
Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to manage nutrition issues and counsel patients in nutrition principles, dietary plans, food selections, and adapting dietary modifications to the patient’s lifestyle is essential
- Strong written and verbal interpersonal and communications skills required
- Demonstrated person-centered, individual and group counselling skills including supportive behavioral interventions applicable to eating disorders
- Demonstrated understanding of the psychosocial, physical, and functional problems endemic to eating disorders
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team, as well as being able to work independently and prioritize workload is essential
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning
- Willingness to travel; a vehicle and valid driver's license required
- Must demonstrate commitment to ensure personal safety, safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
- Ability to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events required
- Must demonstrate good attendance
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
