Founded by Frankie Solarik, PREQUEL & CO. APOTHECARY is an immersive cocktail bar experience inspired by the apothecaries of the Art Nouveau era. Guests are transported into a curated, old-world environment where cocktails are built from fresh botanicals, spices, and tinctures, prepared with a refined, classical approach to mixology.
Prequel is seeking a Host to manage the guest journey from the moment of arrival, controlling the flow of service and setting the tone for an intimate, experience-driven environment. This role is essential in maintaining pacing, atmosphere, and the overall standard of hospitality.
Responsibilities:
- Curate a warm, immersive arrival experience that aligns with Prequel’s intimate and transportive atmosphere
- Manage reservations with precision, ensuring proper pacing and table flow throughout service
- Act as the first point of contact for guests, setting expectations for the experience and tone of the venue
- Guide guests through the concept, framing the experience in a way that enhances anticipation and engagement
- Maintain control of the door, including walk-ins, waitlists, and real-time reservation adjustments
- Communicate continuously with the service and bar teams to ensure accurate timing and smooth transitions
- Anticipate guest needs through reservation notes, guest behaviour, and situational awareness
- Uphold refined standards of communication, presence, and hospitality appropriate to an elevated cocktail environment
- Assist with VIP guests, celebrations, and special bookings, ensuring details are executed seamlessly
- Maintain composure in a fast-paced environment while preserving the calm, controlled energy of the space
- Handle guest concerns with professionalism and discretion, making decisions that protect both the experience and the brand
- Ensure the entrance, host stand, and surrounding areas reflect the aesthetic and cleanliness standards of the venue
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in hospitality required, preferably in a restaurant, cocktail bar, or guest-facing role
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage guests in a confident, polished manner
- Strong sense of awareness and control over guest flow and pacing
- Highly organized with the ability to manage reservations, seating plans, and guest expectations simultaneously
- Ability to remain composed under pressure in a high-volume, detail-oriented environment
- Experience with reservation platforms such as OpenTable, Resy, or SevenRooms is an asset
- Strong understanding of hospitality fundamentals and the role of the host in shaping the overall experience
- Detail-oriented and reliable, with a consistent approach to execution
- Interest in cocktail culture, immersive experiences, and elevated hospitality is strongly preferred
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and late-night service
