ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST (C.E.T. / M.E.T REQUIRED)

We are currently seeking an Engineering Technologist to join our Manufacturing team in Red Deer. This is a multidisciplinary role that combines estimating, engineering design, project coordination, procurement, and technical support. You'll work closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Operations, vendors, and customers to develop practical engineering solutions and successfully deliver custom power generation projects.

What you'll be doing:
- Prepare detailed project estimates, proposals, and quantity take-offs
- Develop mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic design solutions
- Interpret specifications, drawings, P&IDs, and engineering documentation
- Coordinate projects from quotation through manufacturing and delivery
- Provide technical support to Sales, Manufacturing, Operations, vendors, and customers
- Coordinate procurement activities and evaluate supplier quotations
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and progress while providing regular updates
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, estimating accuracy, and operational efficiency
What you bring:
Required
- Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Mechanical Engineering Technologist (M.E.T.) designation
- Experience preparing cost estimates, proposals, and technical documentation
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and specifications
- Strong project coordination, planning, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally
Assets
- Experience with power generation equipment
- Experience estimating diesel, natural gas, or standby generator projects
- Experience working with ATS, switchgear, control systems, or sound-attenuated enclosures
- Experience supporting manufacturing or custom equipment projects
Work Environment
- Office-based position with regular interaction with the manufacturing shop
- Occasional travel to customer sites and project meetings
- Collaborative work with internal departments, vendors, and customers
- Combination of estimating, engineering, project coordination, and technical support responsibilities
