Beechwood Animal Hospital is looking for a part time Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant. The ideal candidate would be ready for a fast paced and fun position working with people and animals. We love to support team growth and enjoy sharing knowledge with all staff! We are looking for someone with excellent attention to detail, stress management skills, multi-tasking ability who loves to work as a part of a team. Veterinary experience preferred. Bilingualism an asset.
This position will work primarily at Beechwood Animal Hospital (266 Beechwood Ave), but occasional shifts at Beechwood Veterinary Services (407 St. Laurent Blvd) may be required.
This is a flex position, so shifts on reception and shifts as a veterinary assistant will be required.
An average day:
- Stocking and preparing exam rooms.
- Managing a busy reception area and offering pleasant, welcoming service to all clients.
- Booking appointments and keeping track of the daily schedule.
- Greeting clients, ensuring their reason for visit is correct.
- Communicating with clients and taking detailed medical history and asking thorough questions.
- Working directly with the veterinarian throughout the appointment process.
- Assisting with patient restraint to facilitate physical exams.
- Using safe restraint techniques for medical treatments which can include grooming, nail clipping and blood draws.
- Communicating with clients in a professional and compassionate way in person, over the phone and through email.
- Preparing medications under supervision.
- Unpacking of food and supply orders.
- Maintaining a high level of cleanliness throughout the hospital, cleaning kennels, surgical suites and exam rooms.
- Offering excellent, compassionate service in person, over the phone and through email.
- Invoicing, collecting payments using a debit/credit machine, discussing delicate financial situations.
- Making follow up calls/emails to clients.
