Printing Press Operator
Seeking to hire a team member with previous printing press experience to join Friesen Plastics in Lethbridge to operate a flexographic stack printing press.
Job Responsibilities:
· Set up and operate printing press to print and maintain roll-fed, flexographic print.
· Read job orders.
· Inspect samples for imperfections.
· Mount printing plates using a proofer.
· Adjusts machine parts, such as feed and delivery mechanisms, suction grippers, guides, feel wheels, jogging device, tapes, and cams.
· Lifts and positions plastic rolls, using hand truck or chain hoist.
· Removes loaded printed plastic roll from press using hand truck and replace with unprinted roll.
· Refilling ink, and or mixing inks to produce desired colors.
· Observes mechanical operation and indicating gauges to ensure that specified operating levels are maintained and make specified adjustments.
· Lubrication of press.
· Remove and replace worn rollers and adjust pressure between rollers.
· Cleans ink and distributing rollers.
· Cleans press and work area, using vacuum cleaner, broom and dustpan, and sanitizing spray.
· Keeps daily time, production, and material usage reports.
Job Requirements:
· Previous printing press experience a must.
· Able to lift up to 75lbs, stand for long periods of time.
· Steel toed boots
The ideal candidate will demonstrate dependability, initiative, and drive. Must have the ability to time self movements or the movement of equipment in anticipation of change overs. Must be flexible, responsible, creative, and solution oriented when faced with challenges. Must have the ability to act appropriately when faced with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
