About the Role
We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and well-rounded Carpenter with experience in both new construction and renovation work. The ideal candidate takes pride in high-quality workmanship, can move efficiently on a jobsite, and is comfortable working through challenges without needing constant direction.
This role is best suited for someone who is hands-on, organized, physically capable, safety-minded, and able to think through problems as they arise. The successful candidate must have their own tools, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to various job sites.
Key Responsibilities
The Carpenter will be responsible for performing a wide range of carpentry and construction tasks, including but not limited to:
- Framing, layout, backing, blocking, rough carpentry, and general structural work.
- Renovation work, repairs, deficiencies, demolition support, and site preparation.
- Installation of doors, windows, trim, millwork, hardware, stairs, flooring, decks, and other finish or rough carpentry components as required.
- Reading and interpreting drawings, plans, measurements, site instructions, and project scopes.
- Measuring, cutting, assembling, fastening, leveling, and installing materials accurately and efficiently.
- Identifying site issues, proposing practical solutions, and solving problems without unnecessary delay.
- Working independently when given clear expectations, while knowing when to ask questions or escalate concerns.
- Coordinating professionally with supervisors, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other trades.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Protecting finished surfaces and working respectfully in occupied homes or active job sites.
- Following Ontario health and safety requirements, company safety policies, and site-specific procedures.
- Taking responsibility for the quality, accuracy, and completion of assigned work.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must have:
- Proven carpentry experience in new builds, renovations, or both.
- A strong working knowledge of common carpentry methods, materials, tools, fasteners, and jobsite practices.
- Their own reliable set of carpentry tools, including essential hand tools and commonly used cordless/power tools.
- Reliable transportation to travel between job sites.
- A valid driver’s licence preferred; required if driving company vehicles or transporting materials.
- The ability to work longer days, early starts, occasional overtime, and schedule changes when project deadlines require it.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions on site.
- The ability to work with limited supervision once the scope and expectations are understood.
- A professional attitude toward direct, constructive feedback, with the ability to make adjustments without defensiveness.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work respectfully with a team.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in the finished product.
- Physical ability to lift materials, climb ladders, work on uneven surfaces, bend, kneel, stand for long periods, and work indoors or outdoors as required.
Preferred Certifications and Assets
The following are considered assets:
- Working at Heights certification.
- WHMIS training.
- Ontario Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.
- First Aid/CPR.
- Red Seal Carpenter certification, Certificate of Qualification, or registered apprenticeship experience.
- Experience with both rough and finish carpentry.
- Experience working in occupied homes, custom renovations, additions, decks, basements, kitchens, bathrooms, or full new-build projects.
- Ability to perform basic material takeoffs and plan ahead for tools, supplies, and site needs.
Tools and Transportation Requirement
Candidates must have their own tools suitable for day-to-day carpentry work and must keep those tools in safe working condition. Candidates must also have reliable transportation to get themselves and their tools to various job sites on time.
Specialty tools, large equipment, lifts, scaffolding, or job-specific equipment may be provided by the company depending on the project.
Work Schedule
This position requires flexibility. Standard hours are generally [insert regular hours], but construction schedules may require:
- Early start times.
- Longer workdays.
- Occasional evenings or weekends.
- Overtime during busy periods or to meet project deadlines.
All hours, overtime, and scheduling will be handled in accordance with applicable Ontario employment standards.

Pay: $18.98-$39.49 per hour
