Summary of Position
Cadre’s Transit division offers our clients technical rail service solutions including commissioning and testing of new transit vehicles, warranty repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspection services. Our contractors work with the leading Ontario transit suppliers and agencies, ensuring their equipment is available to provide reliable on time service to their passengers in some of North America’s largest transit systems.
The Mod Technician’s will be responsible for completing modifications and retrofits on the fleet of vehicles utilized on GO Transit's Regional Commuter Rail System operating in Southern Ontario. Our technicians will be responsible for the on-site installation mechanical components on the trains and provide technical expertise to ensure the safe and timely completion of all work performed on the vehicles.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for both installing and modifying mechanical systems, sub-systems and components installed in the Locomotives and Coaches

Perform mechanical modifications from drawing, prints or wiring schematics on Locomotives and Coaches Install and replace Locomotives and Coach parts such as switches, resistors, partitions, seals, panels, air valves, bearing,

Document and report issues or changes in the work instructions to supervisor and engineering department

Complete functional testing on all completed modifications
Requirements
- Completed Post-Secondary education in the field of Mechanical- Engineering from an accredited technical school or equivalent experience

Skilled in troubleshooting techniques and a complete understanding of mechanical and electrical testing equipment

Strong hand and power tool experience

Hands on experience working with AC and DC power and control systems

Capable of reading and understanding mechanical and electrical drawings and maintenance manuals

Experience with HVAC systems, metal fabrication or machining would be considered a strong asset

Ability to interact with both internal and external customer(s) and respond to emails in an efficient manner

Ability to support or lead Continuous Improvement projects

English proficiency to be able to document and describe results, procedures, etc.
Pay
- $23.00 - 25.00/hr for a 40-hr workweek
