Mm-Wave IC Engineer (All Seniority Levels)
Locations: Ottawa, ON or Richmond, BC (In-Person)
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive Salary (commensurate with experience) + Stock Options
About the Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Mm-Wave IC Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing cutting-edge integrated circuits for next-generation wireless communications (5G and beyond).
We are looking for someone with a principal-engineer mindset—capable of driving high-quality independent work while collaborating closely with a fast-paced, product-driven design team. We have multiple seniority levels open and will align the title and responsibilities with the candidate's depth of experience.
Key Responsibilities
- IC Design & Simulation: Perform comprehensive IC simulations and optimizations within Cadence, ADS, and HFSS environments.
- Layout & Schematic Ownership: Drive the complete design schematic, simulation, and methodologies for complex Mm-Wave and analog layouts.
- Architecture Development: Apply advanced circuit architectures to design core blocks, including LNAs, Mixers, Phase Shifters, Power Amplifiers (PAs), Drivers, and VGAs, with a specific focus on 5G applications.
- Testing & Evaluation: Engage in hands-on IC laboratory testing and characterization.
- Collaboration & Client Support: Work closely with cross-functional design teams and interface directly with customers to define and meet performance requirements.
Qualifications & SkillsEducation & Experience
- Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetics, or a related field (Ph.D. highly preferred).
- Experience: 3–5 years of industrial experience in RFIC/Mm-Wave design preferred.
- Track Record: A proven history of successful tape-outs or exceptional performance in Mm-Wave circuits engineering.
Technical Expertise
- Technologies: Deep, recent RFIC design experience in RFSOI / CMOS technologies.
- Circuit Knowledge: Practical experience with RF Switches, PAs, LNAs, variable/programmable attenuators, phase shifters, and power combining networks.
- Advanced Architectures: Knowledge of large-scale phased array transceiver architectures or beamforming techniques is a strong asset.
Tools & Software
- EDA & Design Environments: Proficiency in Cadence Virtuoso, ADS, H-SPICE, Laker ADP, and Verilog/Verilog HDL for digital/mixed-mode systems.
- EM Simulation: Experience with EM modeling tools such as Ansoft HFSS, Sonnet, CST, or WIPL-D.
- Lab Equipment: Prior experience utilizing standard RF/Mm-Wave IC laboratory test equipment.
Work Environment & Mindset
- Fast-Paced Execution: Proven ability to thrive in a rapid, product-paced environment with strict project schedules and deliverables.
- Dedication: High accountability and flexibility to support critical project milestones when necessary.
- Communication: Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate seamlessly with local and remote teams.
