Job Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Theatre Instructors to join our team for our upcoming Audio Drama & Voice Acting class. As an Instructor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for youth ages 10-15. You will be responsible for leading activities and teaching/guiding participants to perform a 20-40 minute live broadcast. Technical support is provided.
The class runs weekly on Monday evenings, 6:30-8pm at Rockway P.S. and is led by two instructors. Fall session is Sept 21 - Nov 23. Instructors who perform well will be invited to return for Winter and Spring sessions. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children/youth and have a background in education, theatre, or other creative arts.
Duties
- Supervise and engage with participants during various activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and leading activities that promote teamwork, creativity, and confidence.
- Teach participants to create story and character, use their voice effectively, work together as a group, and perform live in a studio.
- Assist in helping participants create live sound effects (foley) or find/create prerecorded sound/music.
- Foster a positive environment by encouraging participation and inclusivity among all participants.
- Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and fellow staff members regarding participant progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Participate in training and planning.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children and youth ages 10 – 15
- Experience with drama, theatre, and/or other creative arts.
- Organized and detail oriented
- First Aid/CPR Training or willingness to complete
- Vulnerable Sector Check, candidates must be 18 or older
