General Labourer – Underpinning & Basement Lowering
Job Overview
We are a construction company specializing in basement underpinning and structural foundation work. We are seeking reliable, hardworking General Labourers to join our crew performing hands-on construction work related to lowering basement floors and increasing overall basement ceiling height.
This role involves physically demanding work in residential environments, supporting skilled crew members in excavation, forming, concrete placement, and foundation wall construction.
Work Schedule & Pay
- Schedule: Monday to Saturday
- Hours: 8 hours per day
- Pay: Hourly, based on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with manual excavation and soil removal for basement lowering
- Support underpinning operations, including footing and foundation wall construction
- Carry materials, tools, and debris safely within confined basement spaces
- Assist with forming, rebar placement, and concrete pours
- Use hand tools and basic power tools as required
- Load and unload materials and equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
- Follow all safety procedures and site-specific instructions
- Work collaboratively as part of a construction crew under a foreman or lead hand
Qualifications & Experience
- Some experience in construction or general labour required
- Trade school education or hands-on trade experience considered an asset
- Comfortable with physically demanding work (lifting, digging, repetitive tasks)
- Ability to work in confined spaces and residential basements
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability
- Willingness to learn specialized underpinning techniques
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely at all times
Preferred (Assets)
- Experience with excavation, concrete, or foundation work
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and materials
- Valid driver’s license
- Safety training or certifications (e.g., WHMIS, Working at Heights – if applicable)
- Languages Spoken: English, Portuguese, Spanish
