We're looking for a compassionate and dependable Health Care Aide to become part of an established care team supporting a client in Sherwood Park.

Experience supporting individuals living with dementia is essential for this position. The successful candidate will be comfortable adapting communication approaches and supporting individuals living with dementia with patience, understanding, and compassion while helping maintain dignity and independence.

Schedule & Availability
We are currently hiring a Health Care Aide who can provide consistent availability.
The required schedule is:
- Fridays: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Every Other Saturday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Sundays: Alternating schedule:
- Week 1: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- Week 2: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Mondays: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Applicants must be available for the required schedule outlined above to ensure continuity of care and allow the client to build a relationship with familiar caregivers.
Additional shifts may also be available on days outside of the required schedule, including:
- Morning shifts: 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM
- Evening shifts: 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
These additional shifts are optional and may be offered based on client needs and caregiver availability.
What You'll Do
Every client is unique, but responsibilities may include:
- Providing companionship and meaningful social interaction.
- Assisting with personal care while promoting dignity, independence, and choice.
- Supporting mobility, transfers, ambulation, and fall prevention.
- Providing medication assistance within the Health Care Aide scope of practice.
- Preparing meals and assisting with nutrition and hydration.
- Light housekeeping, laundry, and maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment.
- Utilizing dementia care strategies and individualized communication approaches.
- Monitoring for changes in the client's health or wellbeing and communicating concerns promptly.
- Completing accurate and timely documentation.
- Working independently while exercising sound judgment, professionalism, and compassion.
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- Health Care Aide Certificate.
- Current CLHA registration in good standing.
- Professional liability insurance.
- Current CPR & First Aid Certification.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check.
- Valid Alberta driver's licence.
- Reliable vehicle to travel to the client's home.
- Experience supporting individuals living with dementia.
Experience & Skills
The successful applicant will have:
- Minimum 2 years of Health Care Aide experience preferred.
- Experience providing care to seniors in a home care, supportive living, or long-term care setting.
- Experience supporting individuals living with dementia.
- Strong understanding of dementia care best practices and communication approaches.
- Strong observation and critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work independently with confidence and sound judgment.
- The ability to adapt to each client's unique routines, preferences, and goals.
