Site: Various Health Care Sites within Toronto
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
Hours: Hours may vary site to site (example Days, Nights, Rotating Shifts)
Payrate: $18.40/hour

Patient Watch Security Guard plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive environment within healthcare settings. This position is responsible for providing continuous observation and monitoring of patients who may present a risk to themselves, others, or the hospital environment. Working closely with clinical staff, the guard ensures patient safety through professional engagement, de-escalation techniques, and accurate documentation of observations and incidents. As a casual Security Guard, flexibility and reliability are essential to provide coverage based on operational and patient care needs.
Key responsibilities:

Provide continuous observation of assigned patients to ensure safety and prevent self-harm or injury.

Monitor and report any unusual behavior, incidents, or safety concerns to clinical and security staff.

Maintain a respectful and non-invasive presence while observing patients.

Work closely with healthcare professionals, following facility protocols and directions.

De-escalate situations calmly and appropriately using non-violent crisis intervention techniques.

Document observations and incidents accurately and in a timely manner.

Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
Prerequisites:

Valid Security License for the province of Ontario

Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider

Covid Vaccinations
-
Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test

Must be clean shaven to complete N95 Mask fit testing during the training

English (oral and written) fluency is a must
-
Previous experience in security or a related field preferred.

Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.

Ability to stay alert and attentive for extended periods.

Ability to work in high-stress environments and remain composed under pressure.

Ability to stand or sit for long periods and respond quickly in emergency situations.

Legally authorized to work in Canada

Must be able to provide certifications in Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)

Applicants lacking these certification can opt into Paladin's MOAB certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the certification with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability
