Junior Accountant
We are currently looking for a Junior Accountant to join our company in Richmond, BC. This position is permanent full-time, experience in Wholesale or Distribution industry would be an asset
Key Responsibilities:
- Full-Cycle Accounting Management: Independently manage the end-to-end flow of the accounting cycle. This includes the high-precision processing of manufacturer invoices, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger maintenance.
- Inventory & Bank Reconciliations: Perform rigorous monthly reconciliations for all corporate bank accounts and credit cards. You will manage inventory sub-ledgers for multiple warehouses, investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical warehouse counts and system records to ensure asset integrity.
- Inter-Provincial Tax Compliance: Expertly manage regional tax requirements, ensuring correct application of BC taxes and inter-provincial taxes (PST vs. HST). You will oversee branch-specific reporting and ensure all tax codes are applied accurately to both local and imported vendor invoices to mitigate audit risks.
- Consolidated Cash Flow Monitoring: Actively monitor daily cash flow across all business units. You will track upcoming payment obligations (EFT/Wires) against expected customer receipts to ensure the business maintains healthy liquidity for bulk inventory purchases.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare month-end closing schedules and basic financial reports, including Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets, for review by the Finance Manager.
- Payment Execution & Matching: Oversee the 3-way matching process (Invoices to POs to Receiving documents) for all shipments. Execute weekly payment runs via EFT, wire transfers, and cheques, ensuring correct allocation to the relevant branch.
- Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries, resolving discrepancies regarding pricing, returns, or shipping with a professional touch.
Qualifications & Requirements
· Experience: Minimum 2+ years of dedicated, full-cycle accounting experience, preferably within the Wholesale or Distribution industry.
· Tax Expertise: Must have proven experience with BC and Canadian Tax Regulations and filing processes.
· Education: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Tech Savvy: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and experience with accounting software like Sage.
· Communication: Fluent in English and Cantonese. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required for professional interaction with external vendors.
· Detail-Oriented: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and a knack for identifying financial inconsistencies.
