True Plastic Surgery is a physician-owned plastic surgery practice dedicated to providing exceptional patient care throughout the surgical journey. We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide perioperative nursing care while supporting the day-to-day clinical operations of the practice.
This position is a multifaceted nursing role involving pre-operative and post-operative patient care, operating room and procedure room assistance, post-anesthesia recovery care, and general clinical support. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and administrative staff to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
Clinical Patient Care
- Perform pre-operative nursing assessments and patient education.
- Prepare patients for surgery and procedural appointments.
- Monitor patients in the post-anesthesia recovery area, assessing recovery and readiness for discharge in collaboration with the surgical team.
- Provide comprehensive post-operative assessments, wound care, dressing changes, drain care, and patient education.
- Triage patient concerns and communicate effectively with surgeons regarding patient care.
- Document assessments and treatments accurately within the electronic medical record.
Operating Room & Procedural Support
- Assist surgeons during operating room and in-office procedures.
- Ensure adherence to sterile technique, infection prevention, and patient safety standards.
- Prepare and organize operating rooms and procedure rooms.
- Assist with medical inventory management, supply ordering, and maintenance of appropriate clinical stock levels.
- Support efficient operating room workflow and patient safety initiatives.
Clinic Operations
- Assist with medical inventory management and supply ordering.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with vendors to ensure adequate supplies.
- Assist with maintaining clinical equipment and treatment rooms.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and clinic protocols.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, medical office staff, and administrative team members.
- Provide support across multiple clinical areas as patient volumes and operational needs require.
- Contribute to creating a positive, professional, and patient-centered environment.
Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Current BCLS (CPR) certification.
- Current ACLS certification (required by start date).
- Previous experience in perioperative nursing, ambulatory surgery, plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, or surgical nursing is preferred.
- Operating room and/or PACU experience is required.
- IV initiation and venipuncture experience is preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexible and adaptable with a willingness to assist throughout the clinic as needed.
