Quality Assurance Engineer
Location: Concord, ON
Term: Full-time, Permanent
Pay Rate: $70 - $90 K per year
Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for inspecting, testing, and monitoring products and manufacturing processes to ensure they meet internal quality standards, customer specifications,
and industry regulations. This role plays a key part in maintaining product consistency, identifying defects, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform in-process, first-piece, and final inspections on raw materials, components, and finished products
- Use precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges) to verify product dimensions and tolerances.
- Conduct functional and visual tests t ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards
- Accurately record inspection results and maintain detailed quality records, including
inspection reports, test data, and non-conformance reports (NCRs)
- Assist in maintaining and updating quality control documentation such as work instructions, inspection procedures, and checklists
- Identify and document defects or deviations from standards
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to investigate root causes of quality issues and assist with corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Perform regular audits of manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with internal procedures and industry standards
- Support calibration of measurement equipment and ensure gauges and tools are in good working order
- Support quality improvement initiatives, such as Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S
- Provide input for process improvements based on inspection trends or recurring issues
- Communicate clearly with production, engineering, and quality teams regarding quality concerns or process changes
- Participate in quality meetings, production reviews, and training sessions
Qualifications:
- Degree in Industrial Engineering or related discipline required, P. Eng preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in quality engineering in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in continuous improvement and/or cost reduction projects using LEAN manufacturing and VA/VE principles
- Proficiency in 3D design software applications, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, as well as experience with PLC programming
- Thorough understanding of provincial industrial building and safety codes
- Proven analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills, coupled with excellent time management and the ability to effectively handle competing priorities
- Strong ability to communicate effectively, verbal and written, with a focus on teamwork
