Powell's Supermarket is looking for a motivated, customer-focused Grocery Supervisor/Keyholder to join our Carbonear team.
Reporting to the Store Manager, the successful candidate will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the store by providing leadership to the grocery team, ensuring shelves are well stocked and merchandised, delivering excellent customer service, and supporting overall store operations.
As part of the store's leadership team, this position also serves as a keyholder and participates in a rotational leadership schedule, assuming responsibility for opening and closing the store and acting as the Manager on Duty during assigned shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support members of the grocery department, providing coaching, direction, and day-to-day leadership.
- Assist with opening and closing the store, ensuring all security and cash handling procedures are followed.
- Ensure grocery aisles are clean, organized, fully stocked, and merchandise is properly faced and priced.
- Monitor inventory levels and work with the Store Manager to minimize out-of-stock items and maintain appropriate inventory.
- Coordinate and assist with receiving, unloading, and merchandising incoming product.
- Support promotional displays, seasonal merchandising, and store initiatives to maximize sales.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by responding to customer inquiries and resolving concerns in a professional manner.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while ensuring compliance with company policies and food safety standards.
- Assist with scheduling, training, and developing team members.
- Support other departments and perform additional duties as required to ensure the overall success of store operations.

- Previous supervisory experience in a retail or grocery environment.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of merchandising, inventory control, and retail operations.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions.
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform the physical duties associated with the position.
