The Art Gallery of Hamilton is seeking skilled Freelance Bartenders to join our Wedding & Event Services Team. In this role, bartenders are responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a clean and organized work area. As a freelance bartender, you will invoice the AGH for your time and commit to working at least two Saturday shifts per month, with additional shifts offered as they become available. Shifts primarily take place on weekends, both during the day and evening, with occasional weekday evening shifts.
Responsibilities include adhering to bar uniform standards and protocols, assisting clients and the WES team with end-of-night duties, and ensuring all bar areas, including outdoor spaces and liquor storage, are clean and organized at the end of each shift. Before events, bartenders prepare the bar by stocking ice, glassware, and garnishes, maintaining a well-organized setup, and checking inventory levels. During events, they provide excellent guest service by greeting patrons, taking drink orders, and preparing beverages according to recipes or requests. Bartenders are also responsible for processing payments, ensuring responsible alcohol service in compliance with all regulations, and maintaining cleanliness throughout their shift. Additionally, they must communicate any concerns or issues to the WES team to ensure smooth operations.
Candidates must have a minimum high school diploma, with post-secondary education or equivalent experience considered an asset. A minimum of one year of bartending experience at a fine dining level is required, along with Smart Serve Certification. Strong customer service skills, accuracy in balancing a cash bar, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. Applicants must be comfortable working in a professional, fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of service.
