Optometric Assistant / Frame Stylist
In-Person Position | Full-Time or Part-Time
Monday–Friday, evening + Weekends
We are a busy, patient-focused optometry practice seeking an experienced Optometric Assistant / Frame Stylist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional customer care.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strong clinical knowledge with a passion for eyewear styling and sales. If you are organized, confident, personable, and enjoy helping patients look and see their best, we would love to meet you.
What You’ll Do Patient Experience & Front Desk Leadership
- Create a warm, professional, and welcoming first impression
- Manage multi-line phones, scheduling, and patient inquiries
- Verify insurance and reconcile OHIP payments
- Process billing, payments, and patient check-in/check-out
- Handle recalls, referrals, and reminders
- Maintain smooth daily office flow and support clerical functions
- Ensure a clean, organized, and professional office environment
Clinical & Technical Support
- Perform preliminary testing and pre-screen patients
- Assist doctors as needed during clinic hours
Optical Styling & Sales
- Guide patients in selecting frames that complement their face shape, lifestyle, and personal style
- Take accurate frame and lens measurements
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and advanced technologies
- Maintain an organized, attractive, and well-stocked optical display
- Accurately process and track eyewear orders
- Stay informed on new frame collections and lens innovations
What We’re Looking For
✔ Minimum 1 year experience in an optometry office (required)
✔ Knowledge of lens types, coatings, and optical measurements
✔ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
✔ Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy clinic
✔ Trustworthy, reliable, and detail-oriented
✔ Positive attitude and natural leadership qualities
✔ Flexible availability including evenings/weekends
Experience in ophthalmology or optometry office management is considered an asset.
