We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Aide to provide exceptional support and care to a quadriplegic adult male who lives in a private residence.
There is also a large breed dog who you will need to care for during the day; he is sweet and friendly, but he is young and requires a loving, consistent caregiver who enjoys dogs.
We need someone who is calm, caring, understanding, and able to work independently.
Duties
- Assist client with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor client for any changes in health status.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the client's living space to ensure a safe environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Take the dog for walks, take him out for bathroom breaks, play with him during down time, help with puppy training tasks.
Requirements
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, or home care environments is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued.
- Previous involvement in medication administration or nursing-related tasks is beneficial.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for patient transfers or mobility assistance.
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role.
- Certification as a Health Care Aide or equivalent training is preferred but not required; willingness to undergo training is essential.
- Must enjoy dogs and be willing to meet his needs and incorporate him into the client's day.
- Availability Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9am-5pm.
