Overview
TSC High School (BSID # 886611) is a fully online, private secondary school offering high-quality Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) asynchronous credit courses to students in Toronto and across the world.
We are seeking an engaging High School English Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in developing, maintaining and delivering online courses to high school students (Grades 9–12) based on the Ontario Secondary School Curriculum.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for teaching, and the ability to adapt lessons to meet diverse student needs. This position offers the opportunity to inspire students academically while working flexibly in a hybrid environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach English language courses in accordance with the standards set out by the Ontario Ministry of Education
- Develop, update and revise course materials regularly
- Able to grade English-based courses, such as: Arts, Business, Canadian History, English, ESL, etc.
- Assess and evaluate students' learning performance regularly, including through the grading of submitted assignments, tests, final exams, etc.
- Manage, support and maintain communication with students, including responding to online discussions and student emails
- Maintain accurate records of student participation and performance
- Prepare and issue student report cards
- Utilize various online teaching tools and platforms effectively to enhance student engagement
Skills and Qualifications
- Required: OCT certification is a MUST
- Required: 2 years classroom/online teaching experience on related courses
- Preferred: Ontario High School Diploma
- Preferred: Undergraduate degree from Ontario in a related field
- Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines
- Be a self-motivated individual who is passionate about incorporating new technologies into their teaching
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Meet), Learning Management Systems (e.g. Moodle)
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs
- Effective communication skills to engage students remotely and foster a motivating learning environment
