Gan Shalom Preschool is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and qualified Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our team. Our program follows Ontario’s early learning framework and incorporates Jewish cultural celebrations and values-based learning within daily programming. We are a play-based early learning environment that supports children’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development in a nurturing and inclusive setting.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and do not require prior experience with Jewish education, traditions, or culture.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our team to create engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children. This role includes supporting classroom programming that includes Jewish cultural traditions, seasonal celebrations, stories, and songs as part of the preschool’s curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based programming in accordance with Ontario's How Does Learning Happen? framework
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported
- Support classroom programming that includes cultural celebrations, seasonal events, songs, and stories
- Prepare and lead age-appropriate group activities
- Observe, document, and support children's learning and development
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Maintain compliance with Ministry of Education licensing requirements and health and safety standards
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and community events as required
Qualifications
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- Strong knowledge of child development and play-based learning
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Previous experience in a licensed childcare or preschool setting is preferred
- Knowledge of Jewish traditions, customs, holidays, Hebrew language, and values is considered a strong asset, but not required. Applicants from all backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to apply
