POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a hands-on and adaptable Plant Manager Assistant to support early- stage plant operations in a food manufacturing environment. This role carries out day-to-day supervisory responsibilities and participates in production planning, staff scheduling, inventory coordination, and routine quality control activities to support efficient and compliant plant operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Management
- Draft production planning of staffing, raw materials, packaging materials, and purchasing planning, according to the general production schedule
- Organize production activities and maintain daily workflow to support delivery orders, including worker scheduling, material preparation, and participation in production activities as needed
- Follow and enforce SOPs, food safety, product quality, GMP, QA, and workplace safety requirements throughout production operations
- Conduct daily stand-up meetings and communicate operational priorities, workflow updates, and safety requirements to production staff
- Perform pre-operation checks, routine production inspections, and in-process quality checks to ensure operational and food safety compliance
- Complete production records and report production, staffing, or operational issues as needed
- Participate in cleaning, sanitation, waste disposal, and general housekeeping activities following company procedures
Warehouse Management
- Oversee and support daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory movement, shipping, and material handling
- Operate forklifts, perform material transfers, and prepare production materials and shipments according to operational requirements
- Maintain inventory accuracy through inventory transactions, cycle counts, audits, and stock reconciliation activities. Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed
- Ensure materials and products are properly stored, labelled, rotated, and handled following operational, GMP, and food safety requirements
- Monitor warehouse, freezer, and tempering room conditions and maintain required records
- Perform routine warehouse housekeeping and equipment inspections
Quality Control & Quality Assurance Support
- Perform routine production, warehouse, shipping, and receiving inspections to ensure compliance with product specifications, GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements
- Conduct product sampling, environmental swabbing, basic quality testing, and product assessments as required
- Maintain quality records, traceability documentation, and food safety-related records
- Support product hold/release activities, quality investigations, corrective actions, and issue reporting under QA Manager guidance
- Assist with sanitation monitoring, pest control, and food safety system implementation including SQF and HACCP
- Support maintenance of quality documentation, specifications, and COA records as needed
Workplace H&S and Training
- Participate in workplace safety and health program. Ensures safety procedures are followed and makes recommendations regarding workplace protection.
- Review, understand and ensure all operations procedures are followed, serving as a role model to ensure all teammates' compliance. Recommends improvements to procedures.
Additional Duties
- Employees may be required to perform additional duties as assigned by the Production Manager or Supervisor to support operational requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 1 years of working experience in a manufacturing basis workplace; supervisory or leadership experience is an asset
- Self-motivated and willing to learn new skills and operational knowledge
- Strong organizational, leadership, and time management skills
- Ability to read and interpret safety policies, operational procedures, standards, and work instructions, and communicate them to entry-level production staff
- Ability to solve practical problems and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Able to lift up to 25 kg materials
- Fluent in English and Mandarin
- Valid forklift certification is required
- Strong preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience in food manufacture.
- Knowledge of GMP and HACCP is considered a strong asset
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or move materials up to 25 kg
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment and perform hands-on production and material handling activities
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during production and warehouse operations
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a food manufacturing, warehouse, and production environment
- Exposure to cold environments, moisture, and food production equipment
- Requires to use of PPE and compliance with GMP, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
- Fast-paced production environment with frequent coordination and material movement activities
Location: Cross Iron Area, Calgary. Public transit is limited in the area, and you may need your own vehicle for daily commuting.
Pay: $22.00-$32.00 per hour
