Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow management, payroll, budgeting, work in progress reporting, and financial reporting. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in various accounting software.
Duties
- Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to maintain optimal cash flow.
- Work in progress - project job costing and assessment of internal progress vs. site progress and analysis of over or under billing for multiple departments
- Oversee payroll in compliance with applicable provincial regulations.
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasting future financial performance based on historical data and market trends.
- Conduct account reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Perform account analysis to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding financial practices.
- Implement and maintain effective accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.
Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience with monthly cost to complete analysis of ongoing projects.
- Experience with monthly financial reporting to banking institutions
- Must have experience with annual year end preparation for operating entities and holding companies
- Experience with tax and GST regulations in multiple provinces

- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate account reconciliation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills for effective account analysis and problem-solving.
