Position: Senior Mine Engineer - Open Pit
Salary Range: $80/hr + OT
About the Client and Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mine Engineer for our client, a busy mining operation located in Ontario. This is a contract position on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation, with a strong possibility of transitioning into a permanent role. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is available to start and is not currently committed to another position.
The successful candidate will have strong MineSight experience and will lead a small team of mining professionals. The role will provide technical leadership and support across several key areas of the operation, including oversight of the Drill & Blast teams, Short-Range Planning, and Dispatch/EIT functions. Criminal record check, medical and references required.
Main Accountabilities
- Oversee the preparation of Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and LOM Plans
- Forecast and evaluate costs, engineering, and mine planning data
- Provide technical direction for the mine related to operations strategy and implementation
- Review and implement operational plans and design changes
- Review and action improvements to mining operation performance against plans and budget
- Prepare monthly cost and performance reports and presentations to support planning results
- Provide technical support where required
Mentor and coach EIT’s and young engineers, performance evaluation and supervision

- Bachelor’s Degree in mining engineering or similar field
- Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and in good standing order with PEO and or eligible for membership with the PEO
- Over 7 years of experience in mine engineering in an open pit environment.
- Strong experience in open pit short range planning, drill blast, Wenco and survey.
- MineSight software skill is a must
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Proven analytical skills and ability to think strategically
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong team and leadership skills
- Strong leadership ability is essential
