Description:
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. You will perform repairs, maintenance, and diagnostics on a variety of on-road trucks, off-road heavy equipment, construction machinery, and fleet vehicles. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical components, brakes, transmissions, and other heavy-duty systems
- Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic scanners, and specialized equipment to complete repairs efficiently and accurately
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance (PMs), and safety checks to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with regulations
- Assemble, disassemble, and rebuild mechanical components as needed
- Collaborate with team members, shop foreman, and operators to prioritize workflow and complete jobs on time
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients, explaining repairs, and addressing concerns professionally
- Maintain accurate service records, parts usage, and work orders
- Adhere to all workplace safety standards, including WHMIS, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a heavy duty mechanic, diesel mechanic, or similar role (more experience preferred)
- Red Seal/Journeyperson certification is highly preferred; apprentices with relevant training and experience will be considered
- Proficient in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment (e.g., scan tools, multimeters), and shop equipment
- Familiarity with Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit, or similar heavy-duty engines and equipment is a strong asset
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Physically capable of heavy lifting (up to 50+ lbs), working in demanding environments (shop/field, all weather), and standing/bending for extended periods
- Valid driver's license (Class 1/3 or air brake endorsement an asset)

- Wage commensurate based upon experience and abilities
