Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee our company's financial operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with accounting principles, financial reporting, and accounting software. This role is vital in ensuring accurate financial management, compliance, and strategic planning to support the company's growth and stability. The Controller will lead the accounting team, manage financial statements, and implement effective financial controls.
Qualifications/Skills Required
- Exceptional multi-tasker and time manager; organized
- Accounting experience with automotive accounting and reporting functions
- Post Secondary Degree and CPA designation
- Expert knowledge of accounting, financial processes, and full cycle accounting (budgeting, financial statements, reporting)
- Experienced leader mentor and coach
- Advanced proficiency with Excel is a must have
- Working knowledge and experience with financial data analysis is a must
- Working knowledge of federal and provincial tax compliance regulations and reporting
- Ability to adapt, undertake multiple tasks and respond to changing priorities is imperative.
- Experience with PBS is an asset
- Diplomacy, tact and confidentiality in dealing with a variety of people and information.
- Ability to find solutions and resolve conflict
- Excellent communicator with exceptional oral and written skills
- Exhibits sound judgment, empathy, and integrity
- Full understanding of regulations, laws and required compliance in the Automotive Industry including HR policies and procedures
Primary Responsibilities
As the Controller, you will work to oversee the general day to day functions of accounting.
- daily accounting activity and transaction processing
- timely and accurate financial reporting

- Share your expert knowledge to develop the skills of Accounting Team members
- You will develop and maintain policies, procedures and adequate internal controls in compliance with company policies, best practices and legislative guidelines
- Develop and prepare routine management reports for performance assessment and decision-making
- Review journal entries, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, floor plan, bank transactions, A/R, A/P, payroll expenses, intercompany transactions and filings to ensure they are accurate and meet regulatory compliance
- Assist General Manager in the development of annual strategic planning and forecasting
- Work to identify cost savings opportunities, cash flow issues, and methods to communicate the information to management.
- Assist in the completion of all working papers for internal and external audits for the group
- Preparation of weekly trending meetings to present and update financial information
- Calculate, monitor and prepare debt covenant documents for lenders
- Consult Executive Management on accounting operations to recommend areas for improvement
- Prepare for Year End
- Understand and follow company on boarding and off boarding processes
- Follows all current company policies, processes and procedures;
- Comply with any WorkSafe requirements, and safety protocols;
- Undertake all other tasks that may be delegated to you under the supervision of Executive Managers and Maintains professional appearance
Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
