Private Personal Support Worker (PSW)
Location: Burlington Job Type: [Part-Time / Full-Time] Compensation: $32 – $38 per hour
About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and highly skilled Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide [full-time / part-time], one-on-one care for our mother at home. She is a stroke survivor who requires comprehensive daily support. Her husband is the primary caregiver and is present in the home at all times; this role will involve working directly alongside him to provide essential assistance and support. The ideal candidate is patient, attentive, and possesses specific technical experience with mobility equipment and enteral feeding. You will be stepping into a highly functional, exceptionally clean, and organized home that provides a positive, welcoming, and excellent work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborative Care: Work cooperatively with the primary family caregiver to share the daily workload and ensure consistent, high-quality care.
- Personal Care: Provide dignified assistance with all activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, and incontinence care.
- Mobility & Transfers: Safely perform all transfers using a Hoyer lift.
- Nutrition & Feeding: Administer daily feedings and manage care for a G-tube.
- Health Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in physical or cognitive condition, ensuring her comfort and safety at all times.
- Companionship & Support: Offer emotional support, engage in meaningful companionship, and help maintain the established safe and clean environment.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate from a recognized program.
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience safely operating a Hoyer lift.
- Proven experience and confidence in G-tube feeding and site maintenance.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Recent, clear Vulnerable Sector Check (Police Record Check).
- Experience caring for stroke survivors is highly preferred.
Assets:
- Fluency in Polish is a strong asset and will be highly valued.
