About the Role:
As the organization continues to experience significant growth, Nexco Group is seeking an experienced Controller to join its leadership team. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, the Controller will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization while providing financial insight to support strategic decision-making.
As the Controller, you will work closely with operational leaders to ensure project financial performance is accurately monitored and reported while helping the company scale its financial processes, systems, and controls to support future growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage and ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
- Monitor financial performance and provide analysis on key business metrics and trends.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Prepare reporting packages for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
Accounting Operations:
- Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and account reconciliations.
- Manage and mentor accounting team members, including AP/AR personnel.
- Develop internal financial policies and ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Coordinate year-end financial reviews and work closely with external accountants, advisors, and regulatory stakeholders.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management:
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts and working capital reporting.
- Monitor cash positions and provide recommendations to support operational and growth objectives.
- Identify financing requirements to support growth initiatives, assist in securing financing arrangements, and manage ongoing lender relationships and reporting obligations.
Project & Operational Support:
- Support project accounting, job costing, and profitability analysis.
- Work closely with operational leaders to monitor project performance and financial results.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and internal controls.
- Assist with system improvements and implementation of best practices across the finance function.
Qualifications & Experience:
- CPA designation preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing, or other project-based industries is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in project accounting, including committed cost management, cost-to-complete analysis, and project profitability reporting.
- Advanced proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, identify and implement financial controls, and support business growth while remaining hands-on in daily financial activities.
