We are seeking an experience Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our clients team located in Rosenort, Manitoba. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of the manufacturing engineering and quality departments. This role serves as the technical bridge between product design and production, oversees the design of custom machinery, implementation of robotics, and optimization of manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity located in Rosenort, Manitoba, that is available immediately. This role reports to the Plant Manager.
Responsibilities
- Supervisory responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Process Optimization & Lifecycle: Manages the M-BOM, New Product Release (NPR) process, and Engineering Change Requests/Notices (ECR/ECN).
- Automation & Robotics: Leads the design, controls programming, and implementation of robotics and custom machinery to enhance plant production flow.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborates with Product Management and leadership to set priorities and ensure the feasibility of manufacturing new designs.
- Operational Efficiency: Manages time and labour routing, SOP creation, and Pre-Fab production programming to reduce costs and improve throughput.
- Capital Projects (CAPEX): Develops machinery specifications for CAPEX spend; coordinates plant renovations, expansions, and oversees outside contractors/vendors.
- Quality & R&D: Oversees the Quality group and works with product designers and R&D to ensure prototypes meet production standards before full-scale release.
- Safety & Maintenance: Ensures all machinery and operations comply with local regulations; assists with service scheduling and maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience in a manufacturing engineering and manufacturing field, required.
- At least five years of supervisory experience preferred.
- P. Eng license or an E.I.T., (must have requirement).
- Tooling experience is a great asset. I.e., creating the physical machinery, molds, and equipment required to mass-produce goods.
- Thorough understanding of plant engineering, industrial engineering, and tooling.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare budgets and records.
- Thorough understanding of Continuous Improvement methodologies and applications
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
