Position Summary
Technology and Information Management’s Network Operations team is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Analyst. Working collaboratively within our technical team, this role contributes to the technical design, implementation, ongoing maintenance, and support of the division’s wired and wireless network infrastructure (switches, access points, routers, firewalls, and other network services).
This position requires the ability to work independently as well as part of a team supporting complex technical installations, infrastructure design, specifications, and change coordination. The successful candidate will manage core network services, such as our traffic shaping, firewall and filtering solutions, and develop scripts and automations to enhance network visibility and troubleshooting.
Job Duties/Responsibilities

managing day-to-day operations by monitoring network performance, configuration, maintenance and repair; including diagnosing event logs and system errors

supporting system and application implementation plans, custom scripts, and test procedures to ensure operational reliability

developing and maintaining scripts to drive system automation, enhance operational visibility, and streamline troubleshooting efforts
-
administering and supporting network traffic shaping and content filtering solutions to optimize bandwidth utilization and support division security policies
-
maintaining services to optimum levels or as agreed to in service level agreements including (but not limited to) ensuring network infrastructure stability and recovery,
regular device backups are occurring, information security, intrusion detection and evergreening -
creating detailed change management documentation and implement well-thought out changes to production systems

providing formal status updates as deemed acceptable to the stakeholders
Education/Qualifications

diploma in a related field
-
minimum of three years related experience
- understanding of change and incident management

strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills

basic understanding of the following Network Technologies:

IPv4 addressing and subnetting
-
Common TCP/IP protocols and services (TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, SSL, VoIP)

VLANs
-
Routers and routing protocols (OSPF/BGP)

Firewalls
-
Wireless Access Points and controllers
-
the following qualifications are considered strong assets:

Hands-on experience with HP Procurve, Aruba OS-CX Switching and/or Aruba Wireless devices

Experience with the configuration and maintenance of firewalls

Experience with the design and support of large scale enterprise networks

Experience with Python scripting
-
Experience with traffic shaping and/or content filtering systems
-
Knowledge of modern spine/leaf datacentre architecture and associated technologies (EVPN/VxLAN)
Rate of Pay
$43.40 - $55.42 per hour
