Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Line Cook to join our Bistro team.
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and executing menu items to the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, work collaboratively with the culinary team, and contribute to delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portion specifications, and presentation standards.
- Set up and stock assigned stations with all necessary supplies and ingredients.
- Ensure food is prepared and served in a timely and efficient manner during service.
- Assist with daily prep work, including washing, chopping, portioning, and storing ingredients.
- Maintain consistency in food quality and presentation.
Kitchen Operations
- Keep workstations clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout each shift.
- Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
- Minimize food waste and support cost-control initiatives.
- Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures.
Food Safety & Sanitation
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Ensure proper food handling, storage, and temperature controls.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
- Adhere to workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house team members.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Support special events, private functions, and catering services as required.
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a respectful, team-oriented workplace.
Qualifications
- Previous line cook or kitchen experience preferred.
- Food Safe Level 1 Certification is an asset.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
- Available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
