The work consists of helping the staff of the Urban Planning Department with daily tasks. The student will have the opportunity to be immersed in the Municipal Urban Planning Department, and learn from fellow employees, including the Permit Agent and Inspectors. The student will learn the Côte-Saint-Luc zoning by-laws and approval processes in order to assist residents with their permit applications and inquiries. Depending on the workload, there may be the opportunity to be involved in other projects or initiatives taking place in the department.
- Work schedule: 35 hours / week
- Employment type: Full-time seasonal position ( fix term of 8 weeks)
- Compensation: 17,30 $/ hours
- Responding to inquiries from residents concerning permits and applications.
- Ensuring that the building inspectors have the documentation, they need in order to inspect construction work.
- Consult with archives to retrieve plans.
- Undertake any other related task, research, or project.
- Two years’ experience in the field or similar field
- has or is in the process of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in urban planning or a similar program.
- Bilingual written read and communication in English and French
- The ability to achieve or adjust goals and behaviours when expected or unexpected changes occur
- The ability to contribute to and support others in achieving a common goal.
- The ability to receive, understand, consider, and share information and ideas through speaking, listening, and interacting with others.

** The urban planning student position is funded by Service Canada’s Summer Jobs for Students program. To qualify for this funding, applicants must meet certain requirements:
- be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of their summer job;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;
- be legally authorized to work in Canada, in accordance with applicable provincial or territorial laws and regulations.
This includes having a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of their summer job.
