Experienced Demolition Excavator Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment and tools to perform demolition of structures, roads, and civil infrastructure. This role requires precision, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-risk environments while supporting site crews.
Key Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, for demolition activities
- Perform selective and full structural demolition (concrete, asphalt, utilities, foundations, etc.)
- Safely dismantle buildings, industrial and civil infrastructure in accordance with project plans and environmental regulations
- Conduct pre-operational equipment inspections and complete daily maintenance checks
- Identify and manage hazards including underground utilities, overhead lines, and unstable structures
- Work closely with site supervisors, laborer’s, and truck drivers to coordinate demolition sequencing and material removal
- Load, sort, and segregate demolition materials for disposal or recycling
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, WCB regulations, and site-specific safety plans
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, including equipment and staging zones
- Assist ground crews with manual demolition or site prep when required
Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum 2–5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in demolition or civil construction
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5 minimum; higher class considered an asset)
- Strong understanding of demolition methods, sequencing, and hazard identification
- Experience with hydraulic attachments (breaker, shear, grapple, pulverize)
- Ability to read site plans and understand demolition scopes
- Knowledge of underground utility identification and safe excavation practices
- Physically fit and able to work in demanding outdoor environments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Certifications (Preferred / Required)

Occupational First Aid (Level 1 or higher)
- WHMIS Certification
- Fall Protection Certification
- Ground Disturbance Level II (asset)
- Confined Space Awareness (asset)
Work Conditions

Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and heavy machinery
- Physically demanding tasks including lifting, climbing, and repetitive movements
- Overtime and weekend work may be required based on project schedules

Compensation:
This is an hourly position with compensation starting at $30.00 per hour + 8% vacation pay = $32.40 / hour (based on the candidate’s experience).
