Position Summary
Reporting directly to ownership, the General Manager will provide senior-level leadership across the entire business, including production, operations, office administration, safety, quality, and people leadership. This role is accountable for the overall performance, stability, and alignment of the organization.
This individual will provide visible leadership and direction, working closely with existing leaders without being embedded in day-to-day operations.
The mandate of this role is to strengthen planning, execution, communication, and accountability while building strong internal and external relationships that support long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management:
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the entire organization, including production and office-based teams.
- Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards across all functions.
- Coach, mentor, and develop managers, supervisors, and employees to strengthen leadership capability.
- Developing bench strength in team members to ensure consistency in outcomes over time.
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and results-driven culture.
Operational and Production Management:
- Oversee all production and operational activities to ensure schedules are planned, executed, and achieved through effective leadership, systems, and accountability.
- Maintain appropriate visibility across the operation to understand performance, identify risks, and support leaders as needed.
Office and Business Oversight:
- Provide leadership oversight to office staff, including administration, logistics, and customer support functions.
- Ensure strong communication and alignment between office and production teams.
- Support business planning, workflow coordination, and prioritization across departments.
- Ensuring annual financial statements are completed in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring lenders and shareholders needs are met.
Relationship Building and External Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key customers, suppliers, service providers, and industry partners.
- Negotiating and maintaining contracts with key customers and suppliers.
- Act as a trusted ambassador for the business, reinforcing credibility and professionalism.
- Collaborate with customers and partners to support service delivery and continuous improvement.
- Strengthen internal relationships through open communication and alignment.
Safety, Quality, and Compliance:
- Promote a strong safety-first culture and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Support audit readiness, quality systems, and ongoing compliance.
- Ensure product integrity and attention to detail meet customer and regulatory expectations.
You and your experience
Proven experience in a senior operational, plant, or general management role, ideally within manufacturing, agriculture, or processing environments. Demonstrated ability to lead entire businesses or multi-functional operations. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust internally and externally.
A hands-on, practical approach with strong planning, organizing, and execution capabilities. Mechanical and operational aptitude is highly valued. Experience in smaller or mid-sized, compliance-driven environments is considered an asset.
