About Pietro's
Pietro's is a Canadian food manufacturer specializing in fresh and frozen pasta . We're a hands-on, quality-driven operation looking for a detail-oriented QC Technician to help us hold every batch to standard.
The Role
The QC Technician is responsible for monitoring product and process quality across the production floor, from incoming raw materials through to finished goods. You'll work closely with production staff and report quality issues in real time to keep the line running right and our customers' specs met.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and finished-product inspections (weight, dimension, fill, appearance, seal integrity, labelling)
- Conduct raw material and packaging receiving checks against specifications
- Monitor and document critical control points (CCPs) and pre-requisite programs in line with HACCP, SQF and food safety requirements
- Collect and log samples; perform basic tests (metal detection checks, moisture, temperature, pH as applicable)
- Verify compliance with allergen controls, sanitation procedures, and GMPs
- Complete accurate QC records, hold/release documentation, and non-conformance reports
- Support traceability, lot coding, and labelling verification
- Flag deviations to leadership and assist with corrective actions
- Participate in line clearances and changeover verification.
Requirements
- High school diploma required; post-secondary in food science, microbiology, or a related field an asset
- 1+ year of QC/QA experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred
- Working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety principles (certification an asset)
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment, including cold/refrigerated areas
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Good written and verbal communication in English
- Available to work day shift, rotating shifts, weekends as needed
Assets (Nice to Have)
- Allergen and gluten-free handling experience
- Familiarity with BRC, SQF, or CFIA requirements
- Experience with metal detection and net-weight control programs
