ReStore Associate / Driver
Habitat for Humanity Chatham-Kent seeks a highly motivated and organized and customer-orientated ReStore Associate / Driver to help increase its retail & product donation program.
TheReStore Associate / Driver will be responsible for the safe operation of the affiliate vehicle and its use in the collection of donated goods to the ReStore; offering support to the internal and external handling of donated goods; and for the provision of sales / service support to ReStore customers. The successful candidate will also be responsible for undertaking a daily safety inspection of the vehicle and for keeping/completing appropriate records regarding the same in accordance with established ReStore practices.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating, testing, cleaning, repairing, pricing and merchandising products throughout the store. Additional tasks will include customer service, processing recycled materials, maintenance, cleaning duties in the work worm, store and external common areas as needed. Other duties include, performing cash and credit transactions duties as needed.
Habitat for Humanity Chatham-Kent is a community-based charity working for a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Our mission is to build affordable housing and promote homeownership for local families. The ReStore is Habitat’s retail program and resells quality new and used building materials. Funds raised through the ReStore support our build program.
Qualifications:
- At minimum, the incumbent will hold a secondary school diploma.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean drivers abstract.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in retail, or warehouse support.
- Physical ability to work in the warehouse, in salvage or procurement pickup throughout Chatham-Kent
- Physical ability to stand for long periods of time as well as having the ability to lift up to 70lbs consistently and repetitively.
- Strong communication skills, with an ability to lead and motivate others.
- Experience in delivering outstanding customer service.
- Calm, very well organized and able to deal with the pressure of a demanding work environment.
- Solid background with experience in sales and customer service.
- Valid driver’s licence and dependable transportation required
- Ability and willingness to be trained to operate a forklift.
- Must be able to work alternating Saturday's or as needed.
- Must provide a clean criminal background check.
- Knowledge of building supplies and of home construction and renovation projects, including concrete, carpentry, flooring, drywall, painting, heating plumbing and electrical trades is an asset.
- Good knowledge of safety and maintenance issues in a warehouse environment.
