WINE STORE ASSOCIATE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide cashier and customer service support.
- Operate the cash register to process cash, debit, and credit transactions.
- Sign for, verify, and reconcile the daily float.
- Balance cash against register totals at the end of each shift.
- Conduct inventory checks and reconcile discrepancies against system records to identify potential stock loss.
- Respond to customer inquiries, offering product information, recommendations, and upselling where appropriate.
- Set up and maintain promotional displays.
- Stock shelves with cases and bottles as required.
- Unload, organize, and restock incoming product deliveries.
- Maintain store cleanliness, including dusting, sweeping, and cleaning spills or broken glass.
- Assist with ordering liquor and supplies to ensure adequate inventory levels.
- Maintain accurate restock lists, tracking items requiring replenishment and preparing order requests.
- Apply and update product price tags accurately and in a timely manner.
- Answer incoming calls from Agents, record clear notes and relay messages promptly to the appropriate team members.
- Report any unsafe customer behaviour or safety concerns promptly to the Wine Store Manager or Security.
- Support daily operational tasks to ensure smooth and efficient store functioning.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Wine Store Manager and/or Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Wine & beer knowledge is preferred but not necessary, but interest and enthusiasm far outweigh industry experience.
- Previous retail experience is an asset.
- Work well independently and in a small team environment.
- Willingness to learn and grow.
- Physically able to lift wine boxes and stock shelves (35 lbs.).
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office.
- Must have Serving it Right certificate.
- Energetic, respectful, and polite with strong customer service skills.
- Attention to detail with respect to store maintenance and merchandising.
- A willingness to work a variety of different shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays, night closing shift may go as late as midnight.
- Must have a work permit valid for a minimum of one year if applicable.
