CNC Brake Press Operator - Setup & Fabrication
Location: Oldcastle, ON
Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
Schedule: Day Shift, Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturday overtime

Our client, an established custom metal fabrication company in Oldcastle, is looking for an experienced CNC Brake Press Operator to join its fabrication team.
This is a setup-focused position requiring more than basic machine operation. The successful candidate will be expected to work from engineered drawings, select appropriate tooling, set up and operate CNC press brake equipment, complete first-off inspections and troubleshoot forming or quality issues with minimal supervision.
Who This Role Is For
This opportunity is well suited to someone who:
- Has at least 2 years of hands-on brake press experience
- Can independently set up and operate CNC press brake equipment
- Understands tooling selection for different material types and thicknesses
- Can confidently read blueprints and engineered drawings
- Understands forming, dimensional tolerances and first-off inspection
- Can identify and correct basic mechanical or quality problems
This is not simply a load-and-run operator position.
What You'll Be Doing
- Set up and operate CNC press brake equipment
- Complete daily machine startup and shutdown procedures
- Fabricate and form components from engineered drawings and parameters
- Read blueprints, plans, specifications and customer documentation
- Identify and select appropriate tooling for different material thicknesses and types
- Maintain tooling cleanliness and condition
- Perform first-off inspections
- Complete follow-up quality inspections throughout production
- Identify non-conforming components and report issues
- Make equipment adjustments as required
- Troubleshoot quality and mechanical problems
- Complete minor repairs and adjustments within the scope of the position
- Monitor machinery for malfunctions and safety issues
- Support improvements to production quality and efficiency
- Coordinate with cutting and powder-coating departments to meet production deadlines
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Cross-train in other areas when required
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years of brake press experience
- Hands-on CNC press brake setup and operating experience
- Experience forming different materials and thicknesses
- Strong blueprint and engineered-drawing interpretation
- Experience selecting and working with press brake tooling
- Experience performing first-off and ongoing quality inspections
- Comfortable working with imperial measurements
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience with 3D software
- Strong mechanical problem-solving ability
- High school diploma or equivalent
Physical and Work Environment
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lb without assistance
- Comfortable standing for extended periods
- Regular reaching, bending, twisting and lifting
- CSA-approved safety footwear required
- Indoor, semi-temperature-controlled manufacturing environment
- PPE required as appropriate
- Occasional Saturday overtime may be required
