InnovOak School is seeking an exceptional Music Teacher to join our growing team.
This position is being created as a result of continued enrolment growth and expanded programming and is expected to begin in September 2026.
The successful candidate will teach Music to students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8. Teaching assignments will be based on the successful candidate's experience, strengths, and the needs of the school.

Music is an important part of student life at InnovOak. Students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8 participate in regular music instruction, while students in Grades 4 through 8 learn a band instrument as part of our music program.
Throughout the year, students showcase their learning through school concerts, performances, celebrations, assemblies, and graduation ceremonies. We are looking for a teacher who enjoys helping students develop musical ability while building confidence through performance and collaboration.
Teachers are supported by the Ontario curriculum, Cambridge International Curriculum frameworks, and a collaborative teaching team committed to continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will:

Teach Music to students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8.

Deliver engaging instruction in rhythm, melody, music theory, singing, listening, composition, and music appreciation.

Teach instrumental music to students in Grades 4 through 8.

Select appropriate band repertoire and develop students' instrumental skills throughout the year.

Prepare students for seasonal concerts, school performances, assemblies, graduation ceremonies, and other special events.

Differentiate instruction to support students with varying musical backgrounds and abilities.

Foster creativity, confidence, teamwork, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

Create a welcoming, organized, and engaging classroom environment.

Organize, maintain, and care for school instruments and music resources.

Collaborate with colleagues to support school events and cross-curricular learning opportunities.

Build positive relationships with students and families.

Contribute positively to the broader life of the school.

Ontario College of Teachers certification or eligibility for certification is strongly preferred.

Bachelor of Education completed or in progress is preferred.

Demonstrated experience in music education.

Experience teaching instrumental music, concert band, or classroom music is considered an asset.
