Superior Power Products (2025) Limited (SPPL) is Atlantic Canada's trusted provider of industrial air compressors, hydraulic rock drills, municipal equipment, vacuum trucks, and specialized mechanical services. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Duty/ Industrial Mechanic with proven leadership experience to join our growing service team.
This position is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys solving complex mechanical problems, leading by example, mentoring technicians, and providing outstanding customer service both in the shop and at customer locations.
Position Overview
The Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining a wide range of industrial and heavy mechanical equipment. The successful candidate will also provide technical leadership, support continuous improvement, and help maintain SPPL's commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial and heavy-duty mechanical equipment.
- Install, commission, and service industrial air compressors, compressed air systems, hydraulic rock drills, and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and emergency field repairs.
- Inspect equipment and identify required repairs or improvements.
- Read and interpret service manuals, technical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and electrical diagrams.
- Mentor and support apprentice and junior technicians.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating field service activities.
- Complete work orders, inspection reports, and service documentation accurately.
- Maintain strong customer relationships through professional service and communication.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company policies and occupational health and safety legislation.
- Travel throughout Atlantic Canada to support customer service requirements.
Qualifications
- Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician.
- Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance, heavy equipment, or field service experience.
- Previous experience leading crews, supervising technicians, or acting as a lead hand
Strong knowledge of:
- Industrial air compressors
- Hydraulic systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Diesel engines
- Mechanical power transmission
- Bearings, pumps, and rotating equipment
- Industrial electrical controls and diagnostics
- Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and hydraulic failures.
- Experience using computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and organizational abilities.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain Government of Canada security clearance.
- Willingness to travel throughout Atlantic Canada.
Assets
Experience servicing:
- Hydraulic rock drills
- Mining or quarry equipment
- Rotary screw and reciprocating air compressors
- Municipal or construction equipment
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Forklift, overhead crane, and aerial work platform certifications.
- First Aid, WHMIS, and occupational health and safety training.

Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 lb (23 kg).
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Travel throughout Atlantic Canada with occasional overnight stays.
- Climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physically demanding work.
- Safely use hand and power tools, lifting equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
