Role: Senior Project Engineer / Project Engineer, Manufacturing Capital Projects
Location: Toronto, Ontario, on-site full-time
Job Type: Contract / Hourly; Up to 12 months, with possibility of extension

Role Overview
Cobotech Consulting Inc. supports large manufacturing and industrial clients with automation, controls, robotics, and project engineering solutions focused on practical execution, risk management, and measurable business impact.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer / Project Engineer to support capital projects for a major manufacturing client in the Toronto area. The role will focus on manufacturing project execution, equipment installation, commissioning, contractor coordination, and working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support capital project execution from scope development through design coordination, procurement, installation, commissioning, start-up, and handover
- Develop and review project requirements, schedules, cost estimates, scopes of work, URS documents, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Manage project scope, schedule, cost, risks, action items, and progress reporting
- Coordinate contractors, vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders across operations, maintenance, quality, safety, supply chain, and engineering
- Support site execution activities, including permits, safety coordination, installation planning, commissioning readiness, issue resolution, and operational handover
- Review and coordinate mechanical, electrical, automation, and process-related deliverables
- Ensure work aligns with safety, quality, GMP, food safety, and regulatory requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Automation, Mechanical, Industrial, or related discipline
- 5+ years of project engineering or project management experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Experience delivering capital projects involving equipment installation, commissioning, facility upgrades, process improvements, automation, electrical systems, mechanical systems, or utilities
- Familiarity with PLC/HMI platforms, automation systems, electrical systems, equipment maintenance, and engineering documentation
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Project or similar planning tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Code / Canadian Electrical Code would be an asset
- Food manufacturing, CPG, GMP, or high-volume manufacturing experience would be considered a strong asset
