Stittsville’s Imagination Station Preschool is looking for a Registered Early Childhood Educator to join our team working with our Preschool friends . Starting part time end of August for some training and full-time by September.
Wage: Base: 22.55 plus WEG $2 & AWI .. $27.55 hourly. Wage enhancement is only applied during the time working with the children.
40 hours per week 8.5 hour shifts Monday-Friday
Closed for 1 week in the summer 1 week at Christmas. One out of these two weeks is paid and an added bonus to your 2 weeks allotted vacation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement play based developmentally appropriate activities that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
- Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest, and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
- Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of all children.
- Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children, and discuss progress with parents and other staff members.
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
- Prepare snacks and carry out classroom housekeeping tasks (organizing, cleaning).
- Submit written observations on children to supervisors.
- Attend staff meetings
- Support the children’s inquiry by helping them ask questions, test out ideas, and describe their experiences.
- Teach appropriate behaviours and skills through modelling, counselling, mediating, observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing.
- Perform administrative duties including maintenance of children’s records-emergency forms, illness and accident reports, daily attendance and developmental summaries twice a year.
- Communicate formally and informally with families, students, other staff and Director.
- Keep the Director informed of program plans and/or concerns.
- Work as part of a team on managing the day-to-day activities of the room according to the ISP program statement, policies and procedures, and all legislative and regulatory standards.
QUALIFICATIONS: Early Childhood Education diploma/degree from recognized college/university Required.
- Sensitivity and respect for individual and cultural difference.
- Have a solid understanding of the “How does Learning Happen” and “E.L.E.C.T “ early learning Framework
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- Updated Immunization Records, including a TB test & Covid Vaccine
- Proven ability to work closely with other team members.
- Ability to communicate in French would be an asset.
- Recent criminal record check (No older than 6 months)
- Membership in good standing with College of ECE
Contract length: 12 months/permanent.
