About the Opportunity
Altis Recruitment is partnering with a large-scale Canadian organization in the retail and distribution sector to hire an Occupational Health & Safety Consultant. This role plays a critical part in supporting safe operations across multiple facilities, working closely with leadership teams, site managers, and operational stakeholders to strengthen health and safety practices and ensure compliance across the business.
This opportunity is ideal for a proactive OHS professional who enjoys balancing field engagement with strategic coordination and documentation management. Your Responsibilities
- You’ll support incident investigations, Ministry-related documentation reviews, and corrective action planning across multiple facilities
- In this role, you’ll conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits to identify and mitigate workplace risks
- You’ll collaborate closely with operational leaders, district managers, and Joint Health & Safety Committees to promote safety compliance and awareness
- You’ll review and manage high volumes of health and safety documentation, ensuring timelines, reporting, and records remain accurate and audit-ready
- You’ll assist with training initiatives, including reviewing and supporting the rollout of investigation and risk assessment processes within Intelex systems
- You’ll provide ongoing support during emergency situations, investigations, and regulatory visits as required
Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of Occupational Health & Safety experience
- Preferred background within retail, supply chain, construction, manufacturing, or distribution environments
- Strong foundational knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and workplace compliance practices
- Experience conducting incident investigations, workplace inspections, and risk assessments
- Proven ability to manage projects, coordinate timelines, and proactively support teams
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, with experience managing complex documentation and reporting processes
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, with experience working alongside leadership teams and operational stakeholders
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel between sites using your own vehicle
- Professional designation, or currently working toward one, is considered an asset
