Fowler Construction is seeking 310T Mechanics and Apprentices to handle repairs and maintenance on heavy trucks, winter maintenance vehicles and other construction machinery.

Key Responsibilities
- Receive work assignments in the form of oral and written work orders and determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.
- Repair and adjust hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components.
- Inspect, repair, and adjust gasoline and diesel-powered units.
- Perform incidental welding operations on equipment.
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances.
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
- Diagnose defects in heavy equipment.
- Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required.
- Operate automotive servicing equipment, e.g. A/C recycler, etc.
- Install new and added-on equipment.
- Perform electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Accurately complete work orders and timecards.
- Repair cooling, and lubrication systems.
- Install and align engines and machinery.
- Repair mechanical transmissions, drivetrains and final drives.
- Repair cableoperated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.
- Instruct apprentices or receive instruction as an apprentice.
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
- Perform vehicle inspections as per CMVIS standards.
- Review and educate apprentice mechanics, or become familiar as an apprentice, of the safe operation of licensed vehicles as per CMVIS.
- Other mechanical repair work as required.
Qualifications
- Appropriate credentials and certifications – 310T license, or apprentice.
- Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training is preferred.
- Computer literate or working towards computer literacy.
- Strong organizational skills with task prioritization, use of timelines and time management techniques, and clear communication abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Complete work with attention to detail to produce a quality product.
- Conduct yourself in a professional and mature manner.
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.
- Must be able to stand, lift 50 lbs., carry, bend, reach.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

Work Conditions
- Work in a shop environment; travel to various sites may be required.
- Safety equipment will be required such as safety boots, hearing protection and safety glasses.
- Indoor and outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
- Weekend and overtime work may be required.
** These roles start September 1, 2026 in the Greater Sudbury area. If you can/would like to start earlier the working locations are based out of either North Bay, or Bracebridge with paid travel from now until September 1, 2026.
