Bull Powertrain is looking for a skilled and dependable Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Sudbury, Ontario.
This is a fast-paced, shop-based role focused on the dismantling, inspection, rebuilding, and repair of off-highway powertrain components, including torque converters, transmissions, axles, and related drivetrain assemblies.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in doing work properly, follows specifications, and can maintain quality while working efficiently in a busy, deadline-driven environment.
About the Role
As a Heavy Duty Mechanic at Bull Powertrain, you will work with specialized powertrain components used in mining, construction, industrial, and off-highway equipment.
Your work will involve inspecting components, identifying wear or failure, documenting your findings, preparing parts lists, and rebuilding assemblies to manufacturer specifications. The right person for this role is careful and detail-oriented, but also understands the importance of steady productivity, urgency, and keeping work moving through the shop.
Key Responsibilities
- Disassemble and reassemble heavy-duty powertrain components according to manufacturer specifications
- Inspect internal parts for wear, damage, or signs of failure
- Rebuild and repair torque converters, transmissions, axles, and related assemblies
- Measure, evaluate, and document component condition accurately
- Conduct failure analysis and provide clear technician reports
- Prepare complete and accurate parts lists based on inspection findings
- Work efficiently while maintaining high quality standards
- Follow established procedures, safety protocols, and production expectations
- Keep tools, parts, and work areas clean, organized, and safe
- Work cooperatively with the team in a busy shop environment
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, component rebuilder, diesel mechanic, millwright, or similar mechanical trade
- Strong hands-on mechanical ability
- Experience with off-highway, mining, construction, industrial, or heavy equipment components is an asset
- Ability to follow technical procedures and manufacturer specifications
- Strong attention to detail without losing sight of timelines
- Good diagnostic and problem-solving ability
- Reliable, punctual, and organized
- Able to stay focused and productive in a fast-paced shop
- Willingness to learn specialized powertrain rebuilding processes
- Team-oriented attitude and clear communication skills
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $28.00-$41.00 per hour
