Rice Contracting Ltd. is seeking a proactive Health & Safety Coordinator to support safe, compliant job sites across commercial and industrial projects. This role works closely with Site Superintendents and Project Managers to strengthen safety culture, maintain documentation, complete site audits, and ensure crews and subcontractors meet company and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct site orientations, toolbox talks, and routine safety inspections/audits.
Support hazard identification, JSAs/FLHAs, and corrective action follow-up.
Maintain safety documentation: training records, SDS, site binders, inspection logs, and subcontractor compliance.
Assist with incident reporting and investigations, including root-cause analysis and prevention measures.
Coordinate with site teams to ensure PPE, signage, barricades, and site controls are in place.
Support compliance with provincial regulations and company safety standards.
Help track and improve leading indicators (inspections completed, close-out times, training status, etc.).
Qualifications
Diploma/certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent experience).
2+ years in a construction safety role (commercial/industrial preferred).
Strong documentation and communication skills; confident working on active job sites.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel between sites.
Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
Safety tickets/certs (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid, Fall Protection) are assets.
