Psychology Laboratory Instructor
Part-time (26 hrs / week) August – May, Continuing
POSITION SUMMARY
The Department of Psychology at The King’s University invites applications for a Lab Instructor position
supporting its commitment to teaching excellence and hands-on student research experience. This role
involves delivering laboratory, tutorial, and seminar instruction across core areas of psychology, including
research methods, statistics, cognition, behavioural psychology, and neuroscience.
Working under the supervision of the faculty instructor, the Lab Instructor will also support BA and BSc
senior-level psychology research courses. The successful candidate will be dedicated to fostering student
learning and success in a collaborative, team-based, and task-oriented academic environment.
This position is 9 months from Mid- August to Mid-May each year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver laboratory instruction in research methods and statistics, including lectures or lab sections
as assigned.
- Support senior psychology student research projects through coordination, supervision, and
methodological/statistical guidance.
- Facilitate student learning across core psychology areas by running tutorials, holding office hours,
and providing academic support.
- Develop and maintain laboratory activities and learning materials aligned with departmental
teaching goals.
- Manage and support psychology laboratory spaces, equipment, and required software in
collaboration with IT services.
- Update and maintain course LMS content and assist with marking and assessment activities.
- Supervise and support undergraduate student assistants in laboratory preparation and delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master of Science/Master of Arts in psychology or a related discipline is preferred. Minimum
bachelor degree in psychology required; Honours/honours-equivalent degree.
- Minimum 1-year experience in a lab instructor or research coordinator role preferred .
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team, to show initiative and adaptability as
the position evolves
