Job Purpose:
The Part-Time Cook at the Youth and Recreation Center is responsible for providing a healthy and nutritious food program for children and youth. This includes planning menus, preparing meals and snacks, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring safe food handling practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation and Food Service:
- Prepare and serve healthy daily meals and snacks, following safe food handling, hygiene, and health standards
- Support staff during mealtimes by assisting with supervision
Menu Planning and Inventory:
- Plan bi-weekly menus and prepare grocery lists
- Maintain a consistent meal/snack schedule
- Shop for and order groceries based on attendance and menu needs
- Ensure food stock levels are appropriate and adjusted as needed
- Be mindful of allergies or dietary restrictions when preparing food
Kitchen Sanitation and Equipment Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen
- Wash dishes, sanitize surfaces, and complete regular deep cleaning
- Keep kitchen tools and appliances in good, safe condition
- Report any issues with equipment or kitchen operations to the Supervisor
Administrative and Other Duties:
- Work collaboratively with staff to support a safe and positive environment
- Submit reports such as grocery costs, monthly logs, and leave requests in a timely manner
- Carry out any other related tasks as directed by the Supervisor

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Food Safe Certification required; additional food training is an asset
- Minimum 2 years of cooking experience, preferably in a childcare or youth setting
- Level 1 Early Learning and Childcare Training is an asset
- Valid First Aid & CPR/AED Certification
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Experience working with youth and families is beneficial
- Flexible and open to changes that improve service delivery
- Knowledge of Cold Lake First Nation culture, language, and community is an asset
